Hi there, I’m Angela Tan, the VP of Global Client Services at CapRelo. I’ve been part of this incredible team for 16 years, and I’d love to share a bit about my journey, both professionally and personally.
Finding My Path to CapRelo
Like many of us in the relocation industry, I didn’t plan on ending up here. I started as a temporary relocation assistant while prepping for law school. But life has a funny way of guiding you to where you’re meant to be. CapRelo’s people-focused culture hooked me, and it’s the people who keep me here. They challenge me, support me, and make me better every day.
Balancing Career and Family
I’m married and have three amazing daughters, aged 14, 10, and 6. My non-work hours are often spent at travel softball games and competitive soccer matches, and volunteering with my eldest through the National Charity League. Balancing my career and family has been a journey, but CapRelo has always had my back, allowing me to grow professionally without sacrificing pptime with my family.
Emotional Intelligence: The Future’s Super-Power
To anyone starting in this field, my biggest piece of advice is to hone your emotional intelligence. With AI and tech evolving rapidly, our ability to connect, empathize, and understand others will set us apart as leaders. Emotional intelligence is truly the superpower of the future.
Continuous Growth and Helping Others
I’m always striving to grow, personally and professionally. I often tell my kids that real growth happens when you’re comfortable being uncomfortable. This mindset keeps me moving forward. I’m also passionate about supporting and lifting others in our industry, just as many have done for me over the years.
A Hidden Talent and Personal Inspiration
Here’s a fun fact: I can juggle! It’s a hidden talent that surprises my kids every now and then.
As for inspiration, Daring Greatly by Brene Brown has been a game-changer for me. I read it after returning to work post-maternity leave, and it taught me the power of daring to risk and fail. This concept is now a cornerstone of how I live and work, embracing the daring “why not” attitude.
Looking Forward
I’m grateful for my journey at CapRelo and excited about what the future holds. Balancing personal and professional life is possible with the right support, and emotional intelligence is key to thriving in our evolving world.
Thanks for reading my story. I hope it inspires you and gives you a glimpse into the wonderful opportunities at CapRelo.
