Hi there, I’m Chris Finckel, Vice President of Global Client Development at CapRelo. I’ve been part of this incredible team for 16 years, and I’ve been in the relocation industry for 29 years. I’d love to share a bit about my journey, both professionally and personally.
Finding My Path to CapRelo
My career started in real estate as an agent in Washington, DC, from 1990 to 1995. Back then, the real estate market was tough—you couldn’t give real estate away. After five challenging years, I found an opportunity with a relocation company that allowed me to continue working in real estate without the weekend work and commission checks. I joined CapRelo because of the management and the small firm atmosphere, which gave me a chance to grow both professionally and personally.
Balancing Career and Passion for Nature
While I’m not married and don’t have children, I have a deep passion for hiking and fishing. I love exploring national and state parks, finding it relaxing and enjoyable to be out in nature. Fishing, even though I’m not great at it, helps me unwind after a stressful week. It’s something I truly cherish.
Advice for Newcomers
For those starting in this field, I believe having a real estate background is extremely beneficial. Understanding real estate transactions is crucial in the relocation industry, as it forms a significant part of what we do. It helps in comprehending the different processes and requirements across various states.
Achievements and Goals
One of my greatest professional achievements is growing into my current role and handling challenging situations with clients while maintaining strong relationships. On a personal level, I’m proud of developing my love for the outdoors. It has become an integral part of my life, and I’m grateful for that.
My goal is to continue enjoying my job, learning more about technology, which is becoming increasingly important in our industry. Embracing new technological advancements is something I strive to do, both professionally and personally.
A Fun Fact and Travel Adventures
Here’s something many of my colleagues might not know: I love to travel. I’ve been to four continents and numerous countries. Traveling offers me the chance to experience new cultures and perspectives, which I find incredibly enriching. One of the most eye-opening trips was to Africa in 2009. It made me realize how much we take for granted, and it was truly a life-changing experience.
Books, Movies, and Inspirations
While there isn’t a single book, movie, or song that has profoundly impacted my life, many books have left a lasting impression on me. I enjoy animated movies more than real-life ones because they allow me to escape reality for a while. I’m also a fan of Stephen King’s works.
I’m grateful for my journey at CapRelo and excited about the future. Balancing personal passions and professional growth is possible with the right mindset and support. Thanks for reading my story. I hope it gives you a glimpse into the dynamic and supportive environment here at CapRelo.
